The Environment and Ecology Bureau (EEB) has officially announced the preliminary approval of a new trial project focused on hydrogen fuel technology, a significant step in Hong Kong's pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. This initiative, proposed by Bibicar International Trade Co.
Ltd., involves the display of 30 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles at a designated site in Yuen Long. These vehicles will operate between the display area and the Au Tau hydrogen refueling station, facilitating test drives and showcasing the potential for hydrogen refueling and sales.
To date, the inter-departmental working group, comprising various bureaus and departments including transport, development, and environmental protection, has granted agreement to 28 distinct applications for hydrogen energy trial projects. This ongoing effort reflects a commitment not only to innovation but also to the enhancement of safety and technical guidelines informed by real-world operational data from these trials. As the city continues to explore the applications of hydrogen energy, the working group’s insights will be instrumental in shaping a safe and effective framework for the integration of this promising fuel source into Hong Kong's transportation landscape.
