Hong Kong SAR Aligns with China's Space Economy Plans Under 15th Five-Year Plan
Hong Kong is set to align with China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) to bolster its role in the global space economy, which is projected to grow significantly by 2035. The city plans to invest over HK$100 million in six research projects, including support for China's Chang'e-8 mission, while leveraging its strengths in finance and research to foster innovation in the space sector. Collaboration with mainland agencies will further explore industrial growth opportunities.

The global space market is projected to grow from about US$630 billion in 2023 to US$1.8 trillion by 2035. Hong Kong plans to invest more than HK$100 million in six research projects supporting space initiatives, including China's Chang'e-8 mission.
