Hood County Residents Oppose Comanche Circle Data Center Development

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Residents in Hood County, led by Amy Flint, are opposing the proposed Comanche Circle data center, a 2,000-acre project by Sailfish Investors at 8709 Paluxy Highway. A public hearing by Hood County commissioners is set to discuss the project and a potential one-year moratorium on large-scale developments.

Construction is slated to start this year, with completion of the first data centers expected by 2027, creating 400 to 450 permanent jobs. The Development Commission has recommended a pause to assess the impacts on the watershed, recreation, and local wildlife. The site was chosen to keep commercial traffic away from residential areas, according to Sailfish Investors.
