HP Partners with Mint Innovation to Recycle E-Waste for New Laptops
STRATEGIC MINERALS
HP is reusing copper from its own e-waste in new laptops, marking a closed-loop recycling initiative. The company partnered with Mint Innovation, which recycled circuit boards from old HP computers and servers to refine pure copper.
This method is more sustainable than traditional smelting, employing a biosorption process that uses chemicals and biological materials to extract valuable metals. The process efficiently separates elements like gold and copper from shredded circuit boards, allowing HP to take responsibility for its supply chain in producing the next generation of devices.
