Huawei Introduces AI-Driven Framework for Autonomous Radio Networks at MWC Barcelona
Huawei has launched a unified AI-native framework aimed at the development of autonomous radio access networks. This initiative aligns with the telecom industry's need for advanced solutions to manage increasing AI traffic demands.

Huawei presented a unified AI-native framework at MWC Barcelona, aiming to enhance autonomous radio access networks. This framework includes a RAN Agent and reflects the shift from basic automation to advanced autonomous operations, necessary due to the growing complexity of AI traffic.
By 2024, Huawei introduced RAN Intelligent Agents, evolving into specialized agents by 2025 for tasks like fault management and energy efficiency. The launch coincided with support for OpenAN at DTW Ignite 2026, promoting interoperability among agents from different vendors. As AI demand grows, telecom operators may need to transition from simple connectivity to sophisticated, AI-native infrastructures.
