Hut 8 Secures $10 Billion Data Center Project with Water Improvement Agreement in West Feliciana
West Feliciana Parish officials have finalized a deal with Hut 8 for water improvements to support a $10 billion data center project. Hut 8 will construct a water well, 8 miles of water main infrastructure, and fire hydrants, donating the infrastructure to the parish upon completion. The data center will require 330 megawatts of power and use a closed-loop cooling system, minimizing water usage. Construction began in August, with two 450,000 square foot buildings expected to be completed by year-end.
Hut 8 has signed an agreement with West Feliciana Parish for water improvements to support a $10 billion data center. The developer will construct a water well, 8 miles of water main, and fire hydrants, funding the project and donating the infrastructure to the parish upon completion.
The River Bend data center will utilize a closed-loop cooling system, requiring 330 megawatts of power, more than the 205 megawatts of Hut 8's Texas facility. The data center will use 2 million to 2.6 million gallons of water for initial operations. Construction on the well is set to start next week, with two buildings of 450,000 square feet to be completed by the end of the year.
