HY-Infra Project to Develop Hydrogen Infrastructure from 2026 to 2035
The HY-Infra project aims to create a cross-border framework for hydrogen infrastructure planning by 2035. This initiative is critical for enhancing the hydrogen market and establishing the Maas-Rhine region as a European innovation hub.

Scheduled from 2026 to 2035, the HY-Infra project will develop a cross-border framework for hydrogen infrastructure, focusing on industrial backbones and refueling infrastructure for trucks and inland shipping. It aims to map regional hydrogen demand, coordinate infrastructure plans across borders, and create a modular roadmap for stakeholders.
The project includes establishing a transnational database with data on hydrogen demand, infrastructure planning, permits, and quality. Innovative monitoring solutions will be developed to ensure hydrogen quality, including a mobile laboratory and a multigas analysis system, supporting pilot activities and the establishment of a Hydrogen Quality Competence Center in Germany. This collaboration among industry, SMEs, research institutions, and governments is intended to strengthen investment in hydrogen technologies.
