Hyca Heat Develops Climate-Friendly Industrial Heating Solution in Germany
Hyca Heat, a start-up from Forschungszentrum Jülich, plans to build a demonstration plant to showcase a hybrid heating system that could significantly reduce CO₂ emissions in industrial processes. The innovative technology allows for flexible energy source usage, which is crucial for the industry's transition towards climate-friendly solutions.

Hyca Heat aims to establish a demonstration plant targeting the paper industry, utilizing a hybrid heating system designed to lower CO₂ emissions generated from process heat production in Germany. The system operates using specially coated wires for either electric heating or catalytic combustion, which minimizes nitrogen oxide emissions.
With projections from the German Environment Agency indicating a 40% reduction in fossil fuels for process heat by 2035, this technology will play a critical role in achieving climate goals. Hyca Heat's approach enables precise temperature control and flexibility in energy sourcing, with potential compatibility for green hydrogen. The founding team is currently expanding and seeking partnerships for further development.
