Hydrogen Fuel Cell Harbor Craft Pilot Study Initiated in Singapore
ABS, Marinteknik, SeaTech, and VINSSEN have launched a collaborative pilot study to develop hydrogen fuel cell-powered harbor craft in Singapore, aimed at reducing emissions in one of the world's busiest ports. This initiative is a crucial step towards implementing sustainable marine solutions and supporting the decarbonization of the harbor craft fleet.

A collaboration agreement has been established between ABS, Marinteknik, SeaTech, and VINSSEN to advance hydrogen fuel technology for harbor craft in Singapore. The project will initially focus on desktop studies assessing feasibility, vessel design, and commercial viability.
The Port of Singapore, hosting approximately 1,600 harbor craft, is seeking lower-emission solutions for fleet decarbonization. A second phase may involve constructing and trialing a hydrogen-powered vessel, depending on phase one outcomes. The partnership aims to optimize vessel design and enhance operational efficiency while contributing to broader decarbonization efforts in the maritime sector.
