Hydropower Projects Announced by Four Firms in Kibungan
Four hydropower firms, including COHECO and Aboitiz Power, have unveiled significant development plans in Kibungan, targeting enhanced energy capacity and local economic growth. These projects range from operational plants to proposals in various planning stages, indicating a strategic push towards renewable energy in the region.

COHECO's operational 60-megawatt hydroelectric project spans Badeo, Amburayan, and parts of La Union, completed in 26 months. Coheco Badeo Corporation plans a 500-megawatt pumped storage facility in Barangay Badeo, scheduled for development from 2026 to 2030.
Kataguan Resources Development Corporation is proposing a 30-megawatt project in Barangay Poblacion, with completion anticipated in 7 to 10 years, pending financial viability assessments. Aboitiz Power aims for a 40-megawatt plant across Barangay Poblacion to Barangay Badeo, pending additional clearances. These initiatives are expected to boost local economic growth and require extensive community and environmental considerations.
