Hyosung Heavy Industries Secures $96.3 Million Energy Storage Project in Queensland, Australia
Hyosung Heavy Industries has signed a 142.5 billion won ($96.3 million) contract with Tangkam BESS in Australia to construct a 100 MW, 200 MWh energy storage system. The project aims to enhance grid stability and support Australia’s renewable energy goals, with commercial operations set to begin by late 2027. This project is part of Australia’s broader initiative to increase renewable electricity to 82% by 2030, backed by a $28 billion investment in transmission infrastructure.

Hyosung Heavy Industries has secured a 142.5 billion won ($96.3 million) contract to build a 100 MW, 200 MWh energy storage system in Tangkam, Queensland, marking its first ESS project in Australia. The system will operate for about two hours at full capacity, enhancing grid stability as Australia aims to increase renewable energy to 82% by 2030.
Commercial operations are expected to commence by late 2027. This contract follows Hyosung's recent global contracts, including its largest-ever supply deal in the U.S. worth 787 billion won. The Australian government is investing $28 billion in transmission infrastructure to support renewable energy integration.
