Hyundai and Kia Recall Over 91,000 Vehicles Due to Fire Risk

Hyundai and Kia are recalling 91,000 vehicles in the U.S., advising owners to park outside due to fire risks associated with the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly. The recall affects 2023-2024 model years, including Hyundai Palisade, Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, Kona, and Kia Soul, Sportage, and Seltos, with approximately 52,000 Hyundai and 40,000 Kia vehicles involved.

Electronic controllers may have damaged components causing overheating. Reports indicate six thermal incidents for Kia and four for Hyundai, with no injuries. Owners will be notified in late September, and dealers will inspect and replace faulty components. There is a potential risk of short circuits affecting other vehicle systems.
