Hyundai Launches New Nexo Hydrogen SUV in Western Europe with High Prices
Hyundai has officially launched the new Nexo hydrogen SUV in the Netherlands, one of the few European markets with the necessary hydrogen infrastructure. The vehicle is also set for commercial release in France, starting at €80,600.
While available in Hyundai's configurators in Germany and Norway, it cannot be ordered, indicating hydrogen remains a niche solution in Europe. Hyundai continues to support hydrogen technology, as competitors like Stellantis have withdrawn from this development.
The Nexo features a 204 HP motor, a 2.64 kWh battery, and a hydrogen fuel cell, achieving 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 179 km/h. Its maximum range is 826 km with 18-inch wheels, reduced to 751 km with 19-inch wheels.
In the Netherlands, Nexo starts at €72,495, while the Plus version costs €80,295. The high prices and limited infrastructure position the Nexo more as a technology showcase than a viable mass-market option.
