Hyundai Motor's Xcient Fuel Cell Class-8 truck fleet has reached a milestone of 20 million kilometers driven in Europe, achieved by 165 units over five years across Switzerland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Austria. This achievement emphasizes the role of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) in commercial transportation.
In North America, 63 Xcient trucks have surpassed 1.6 million kilometers since debuting in 2023, with deployments at the Ports of Oakland and Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Georgia. The trucks are used in logistics, including food and beverage distribution, and have led to significant reductions in carbon emissions, equivalent to approximately 1.5 million trees planted. An updated version with an enhanced hydrogen fuel cell system was launched in 2025.
