IAC and The Price Companies Partner to Advance Scalable Biomass Solutions for Renewable Energy

As the United States continues to adapt to the shifting landscape of clean renewable energy, a noteworthy collaboration has emerged between IAC and The Price Companies (TPC). This partnership is strategically positioned to tackle the pressing demand for sustainable biomass solutions, which could play a pivotal role in powering the nation's most energy-intensive sectors.

At the helm of this initiative is Glenn A. Smith Jr., founder and CEO of IAC, who emphasizes the importance of developing a sustainable biomass feedstock to ensure the energy needs of future enterprises are met. This collaboration promises to deliver affordable, scalable, and renewable energy alternatives for industries that prioritize reliability, performance, and environmental stewardship.

Unlike solar and wind energy—often criticized for their high costs and variable outputs—responsibly harvested biomass, derived from a wealth of wood and agricultural materials, emerges as a compelling option. This resource is particularly advantageous for high-performance energy consumers, including data centers and manufacturers, who seek to minimize their carbon footprints while maintaining productivity.

IAC leverages its extensive expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) to transform biomass feedstock into valuable renewable energy. Central to their operations is the patent-pending indirect arrayed drop tube calciner (DTC), a groundbreaking technology that enables a remarkable tenfold scalability compared to traditional rotary calcination methods. With this system, a single facility can produce up to 100 tons of torrefied wood and 50 tons of biochar per hour, yielding high-quality bioproducts like heat and syngas for energy generation.

In addition to its innovative technologies, IAC offers a comprehensive suite of OEM equipment and support systems to ensure operational efficiency and rapid deployment. This includes advanced air quality control systems, bulk material handling solutions, and precision process automation—all designed to optimize biomass processing and support a seamless transition to renewable energy.

Jack Carmical, TPC's director of new business development, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, underscoring that the success of sustainable projects hinges on large-scale, cost-effective technology. To further enhance the initiative, IAC is collaborating with PPS Services Group, an engineering firm renowned for its expertise in designing biomass power plants, having successfully completed over 40 projects.

As Michael Jones, IAC's chief technology officer, aptly stated, these biomass-based renewable products are not merely transitional solutions; they represent the future of energy. By enabling the powering of hyperscale data centers, replacing coal in industrial processes, and facilitating green steel production, this partnership heralds a scalable, sustainable energy pathway that addresses both current demands and future challenges.
