Iberdrola Advances Electrification in Australia with New Battery Projects in New South Wales
Iberdrola has launched two energy storage projects in New South Wales, Australia, enhancing renewable energy integration. The Kingswood project, with a capacity of 100 MW, and the Smithfield facility, with a capacity of 65 MW, aim to improve grid flexibility and energy efficiency. The total storage capacity of approximately 1,000 MWh will support over 65,000 households during peak hours. Iberdrola plans to invest over €1 billion in Australia by 2028 to solidify its position in the energy market.

Iberdrola has initiated two energy storage projects in New South Wales, Australia, including the 100 MW Kingswood and the 65 MW Smithfield installations. These projects aim to enhance the flexibility of the energy grid and facilitate renewable energy integration.
The total storage capacity will be around 1,000 MWh, sufficient to power over 65,000 homes during peak periods. The Smithfield project, completed and supporting Kingswood, will supply energy to approximately 20,000 households. Iberdrola's strategic plan includes over €1 billion investment in Australia by 2028, reinforcing its role as a significant operator in renewable energy.
