The Idaho House State Affairs Committee advanced a resolution from Rep. Tony Wisniewski stating that marriage is a union between one man and one woman and urging the Supreme Court to reconsider the Obergefell v.
Hodges decision. This ruling mandated that states treat same-sex unions equally. The resolution passed despite opposition regarding its necessity and implications.
Additionally, the committee approved a bill that requires public utilities to ensure serving new large-load customers, such as data centers, does not increase rates. The bill aims to manage the growing demand for electricity from these entities. A proposed amendment to change state endowment land management priorities failed to pass after a split vote.
