IEA to Review Morocco's Energy Policy Amid Strengthened Cooperation
The International Energy Agency (IEA) is conducting a comprehensive review of Morocco's energy policy, set for 2026. This initiative is part of a strengthened partnership aimed at enhancing renewable energy strategies and long-term energy security in Morocco.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) is preparing a new review of Morocco's energy policy, scheduled for publication in 2026. This follows an agreement signed in November 2024 during COP 29, focusing on cooperation in electricity and gas market regulation, renewable energies, and energy security.
An IEA expert mission visited Rabat in February 2025 to assess renewable energy strategies and prepare future actions. Additionally, Morocco will receive a specific energy security review in 2026. Implementation of Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) is a priority, with technical exchanges planned for April 2025 to address their international recognition.
Ongoing discussions include the implications of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Overall, these initiatives reflect a deepening partnership aimed at enhancing Morocco's energy transition framework.
