Ijaw Stakeholders Urge Nigerian Army to Vacate Ogoloma Skills Acquisition Centre in Rivers State
Ijaw stakeholders, represented by the Wakirike National Congress, have requested the Nigerian Army to vacate the Ogoloma Skills Acquisition Centre in Rivers State. The facility, established through advocacy during the Rotimi Amaechi administration, has been occupied by the military for over a decade, denying local youths access to vocational training. Chairman David Solomon emphasizes the economic and social importance of the center for youth empowerment and calls for either its return to its intended purpose or the construction of a new center.

Ijaw stakeholders from the Wakirike National Congress have called on the Nigerian Army to vacate the Ogoloma Skills Acquisition Centre in Rivers State, which has been occupied for over ten years. Chairman David Solomon stated the facility was established through advocacy during the administration of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi to empower local youth with skills for economic development.
The continued military presence is seen as a setback, denying opportunities and exacerbating youth unemployment, contributing to poverty and insecurity. Solomon requested that the Army vacate the center or that a new facility be constructed for the Wakirike Ijaw people.
