IMDA and Microsoft Collaborate on AI Safety and Security in Singapore
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore has partnered with Microsoft to enhance AI safety and security research through a Memorandum of Understanding. This collaboration seeks to develop governance frameworks and policies to address emerging risks associated with advanced AI systems.

IMDA and Microsoft have signed a MoU to collaborate on AI safety and security research, focusing on governance frameworks and policy development. The initiative includes a joint exploration of safety issues related to agentic AI, as well as multilingual AI safety challenges.
The partnership aims to enhance national capabilities in AI through initiatives like the ASPIRE 2B supercomputer programme. Additionally, the agreement facilitates knowledge sharing on best practices and develops a framework for responsible access to frontier AI models. This effort aligns with Singapore's strategy to strengthen trust and resilience in its digital environment, addressing the need for coordinated efforts between government, academia, and industry.
