IMDEA Networks Enhances 6G Research with NextGenerationEU-Funded Projects

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

IMDEA Networks has enhanced its research capabilities in advanced 5G and future 6G networks through the completion of the ADVANCE-6G, TEST-6G, and INES projects by December 2025. These projects, funded by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the European Union's NextGenerationEU, established robust experimental platforms for addressing future communication challenges.

Collaborating with Carlos III University of Madrid, IMDEA expanded the SLICES-Madrid node, integrating various wireless and quantum technologies. A new data center was also established to support high-performance computing and connectivity.

The TEST-6G project transitioned IMDEA into a European testbed for 6G research, emphasizing real-world validation of technologies. The ADVANCE-6G project focused on realistic 5G and 6G architectures, while INES enabled the development of an intelligent network for IoT and cyber-physical systems. These advancements position IMDEA as a key player in communication network research.
