IMIDRO to Use 420 Exploration Maps to Attract Private Investment in Iran's Mining Sector
Iran's Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) plans to produce over 400 exploration maps to attract private investment in mineral exploration. The project, which aims to identify critical mineral reserves, is part of a six-year initiative from 2026 to 2031, requiring an estimated $1 billion investment.
IMIDRO's head, Mohammad-Massoud Samiei-Nejad, stated that this effort could identify two world-class metallic mineral deposits valued at $30 billion. The maps will facilitate the offering of exploration blocks through the Iran Mercantile Exchange.
Kerman province, rich in mineral reserves, has seen expanded exploration leading to five discovery certificates and 21 exploration licenses. Despite the sector's potential, international sanctions pose challenges, impacting investment and technology access, crucial for development.
