Indefol Advances Hydrogen Technology in Vietnam amidst Workforce Challenges
Indefol, based in Ho Chi Minh City, is localizing green hydrogen technology to meet domestic and export demands. The company faces significant challenges in workforce expansion and supplier reliability to scale production.

Indefol aims to localize green hydrogen technology, having initiated projects in collaboration with Germany and France. Established in 2008, the company has developed a hydrogen production system with a capacity of 1 MW, achieving 50% local technology ownership.
Despite facing challenges in sourcing qualified suppliers for precision engineering and electronics, Indefol is committed to reducing reliance on foreign technology. The company plans to recruit 1,500 engineers by partnering with top Vietnamese universities to foster skilled talent.
Indefol's green hydrogen project, set to launch in July 2025 in Nam Dinh, underscores its ambition to position Vietnam in the global hydrogen market. However, achieving competitive production costs remains a critical hurdle, especially in comparison to conventional hydrogen production.
