India Advances Telecom Security Initiatives Along Borders
India's Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is accelerating efforts to enhance telecom security along international borders. The Parliamentary Committee on Public Undertakings has urged the establishment of a permanent command center and faster deployment of monitoring infrastructure to combat cross-border signal interference.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is implementing a network of monitoring stations at strategic border locations, targeting pilot commissioning by November 2026. The Parliamentary Committee on Public Undertakings has called for the fast-tracking of signal monitoring projects and the establishment of a Border Area Telecom Strategy (BATS) to enhance connectivity in high-risk zones.
Currently, 602 4G tower sites are proposed under the BOP-BIP project, with 241 operational. Additionally, 4G coverage has reached 17,057 of 17,611 villages under the Border Area Development Programme.
