India and Norway to Enhance Cooperation in Renewable Energy, AI, and Trade at 12th Foreign Office Consultations

CIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLING

India and Norway conducted their 12th round of Foreign Office Consultations in Oslo, focusing on enhancing cooperation in areas such as the blue economy, circular economy, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence. The discussions were co-chaired by Sibi George, Secretary (West) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Torgeir Larsen, Secretary General of Norway's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both nations agreed to strengthen bilateral ties across political engagements, trade and investment, and technology sectors. The India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which commits $100 billion in investments and aims to create 1 million jobs over 15 years, is expected to drive trade and economic collaboration.

The TEPA took effect on October 1, 2025, following its signing on March 10, 2024. Norway's Ambassador to India emphasized the importance of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement as a complementary step for global trade.
