India and UK Collaborate on Hybrid Jump Take-Off System for UAVs
The Technology Development Board of India has partnered with Casey Aviation to develop a hybrid Jump Take-Off system for UAVs, supported by a grant from the India-UK Collaborative R&D Programme. This initiative aims to enhance operational capabilities in unmanned aviation and establish a testing facility in North India, fostering innovation in aerial mobility technologies.

The Technology Development Board (TDB) of India has signed an agreement with Casey Aviation Private Limited to develop a hybrid propulsion-based Jump Take-Off (JTO) system for unmanned and light aircraft. This project, titled 'Boost Electric Jump Take-Off (BE-JTO)', is backed by a conditional grant under the India-UK Collaborative R&D Programme for Industrial Sustainability, in collaboration with ARC Aerosystems Ltd.
A dedicated test bench facility will be established to validate rotorcraft propulsion systems, marking the first such infrastructure in North India. This facility aims to support startups and optimize emerging aerial technologies, enhancing India's capabilities in unmanned aviation and regional air mobility. The initiative is expected to reduce development timelines and costs, facilitating the commercialization of hybrid propulsion solutions and encouraging innovation in both defense and civilian applications.
