India Plans Seven Space Laboratories to Enhance Student Training in Space Technology
India's government is set to establish seven space laboratories in academic institutions to bolster practical training in space technology. This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for skilled personnel in the expanding space sector, which has seen over $600 million in private investment in the last five years.

The Indian government plans to set up seven space laboratories across universities and colleges to enhance hands-on training in satellite systems, rocketry, and mission design. This initiative, evaluated by Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, aims to address a skills gap in the country's expanding space economy, which has attracted substantial private investment following liberalization reforms.
The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) will manage the project, providing up to 75% funding, capped at ₹5 crore per institution. This project follows a request for proposals to establish Antariksh Prayogshala in various regions. The growth of India's private space sector, now hosting over 400 startups, underscores the importance of building a skilled workforce to support ongoing innovations and industry demands.
