India Proposes ₹10,000 Crore Investment in Biopharma Sector Over Five Years
India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a ₹10,000 crore investment in the biopharma sector over the next five years to enhance the country's pharmaceuticals industry. The budget also emphasizes advancements in manufacturing, healthcare, and technology, while the Semiconductor Mission 2.0 aims to establish a sustainable semiconductor ecosystem. Support will be extended to mineral-rich states for the development of critical mineral facilities.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed a ₹10,000 crore investment in the biopharma sector over the next five years, aimed at boosting India's pharmaceuticals industry. The budget includes interventions in manufacturing, strategic and frontier sectors, healthcare, and advanced technology.
Additionally, the Semiconductor Mission 2.0 will focus on producing equipment for full-stack Indian intellectual property. The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) operates under the Digital India Corporation within the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to develop a sustainable semiconductor ecosystem. Support will also be provided to mineral-rich states, including Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, for establishing critical mineral facilities.
