The Indian Air Force (IAF) has launched the Vaayu Baan project, introducing a helicopter-launched drone system to extend the operational reach of rotary-wing platforms. The project includes 10 drone units, two airborne control stations, and two ground control stations, designed for surveillance and precision strikes.
It will autonomously deploy from helicopters and operate in GPS-denied environments. Additionally, the Indian Army is preparing to order an 800+ km BrahMos missile variant, enhancing its long-range strike capabilities and supporting modernization goals. This missile is expected to improve operational readiness and strike capabilities against high-value targets.
