India's Renewable Energy Sector Calls for Policy Support Ahead of Union Budget 2026
As India approaches the Union Budget 2026, industry leaders stress the need for policy support to sustain momentum toward clean energy targets. Investments in renewable energy have reached approximately ₹2 trillion, with total non-fossil fuel capacity exceeding 260 GW.
The government aims for a 500 GW non-fossil fuel target by 2030, requiring measures to facilitate capacity expansion, technological advancement, and improved financing mechanisms. Key areas of focus include incentives for domestic manufacturing, streamlined regulatory processes, and support for energy storage and green hydrogen adoption.
Enhanced policies are expected to encourage residential solar adoption and improve grid reliability. The upcoming budget is viewed as critical for driving growth and positioning India as a leader in renewable energy.
