India's Rs 24,000 Crore PLI Scheme for Solar PV Modules Sees No Fund Disbursement Yet
India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy reported that no funds have been disbursed under the Rs 24,000 crore PLI scheme for solar PV modules due to the required one-year post-commissioning period not being completed. Award letters for 48,337 MW of manufacturing capacity have been issued, with 4 GW of integrated capacity operational as of October 2025. Challenges in upstream component manufacturing, particularly polysilicon and wafers, have contributed to delays.

India's Rs 24,000 crore PLI scheme for solar PV modules has not yet disbursed funds, as no projects have completed the mandatory one-year post-commissioning period. Award letters for 48,337 MW of manufacturing capacity have been issued, with 4 GW commissioned in October 2025.
Currently, approximately 30 GW of solar PV module capacity, 10.5 GW of solar cell capacity, and 2 GW of ingot-wafer capacity have been established. Delays in upstream polysilicon and wafer manufacturing are attributed to limited domestic experience and a concentrated global supply chain. The government aims to promote vertically integrated manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.
