Indonesia to Launch Six Downstream Projects Including Bauxite in February 2026
Indonesia's Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani announced the groundbreaking of six downstream projects, including a $3 billion bauxite alumina initiative in West Kalimantan, set to begin in February 2026. This effort is part of a broader strategy to launch 18 downstream projects this year, with a focus on local government and community involvement, as well as support for local SMEs and the disabled. Downstream investments are expected to reach IDR 584.13 trillion in 2025, contributing significantly to the nation's overall investment and job creation.

Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani announced that six downstream projects will commence groundbreaking in February 2026, including a $3 billion bauxite alumina project in Mempawah, West Kalimantan. A total of 18 downstream projects are targeted to start this year.
The Investment Project Ready to Offer (IPRO) platform is designed to enhance investment distribution across regions, supported by the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). Local governments are preparing necessary arrangements for mineral downstreaming.
Roeslani emphasized the importance of local government and community involvement, including commitments from investors to support local SMEs and the disabled. Downstream investment is projected to reach IDR 584.13 trillion in 2025, contributing 30.2% to Indonesia's total investment of IDR 1,931.2 trillion, with significant job creation potential.
