Indonesia's Data Center Capacity to Exceed 2,000 Megawatts by 2029 with Multi-Layered Security Approach

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Indonesia currently has 185 data centers with a total capacity of 274 megawatts, aiming for over 2,000 megawatts by 2029. The Asia-Pacific data center capacity is projected to grow at a CAGR of 12%, reaching 57 gigawatts by 2030.

A multi-layered security approach is essential, combining video analytics, radar technology, thermal cameras, and multi-factor access controls. This integrated system can detect temperature anomalies, track aerial threats like drones, and document server room activities via biometric scanning and motion sensors.

Additional security measures include body-worn cameras for technicians and IP-based audio systems for emergency communication. Cybersecurity enhancements adopting zero-trust principles and strict hardware and software security standards are also necessary.
