INEOS Achieves Permanent Grid Connection for Project ONE in Antwerp
INEOS has permanently commissioned the main substation for Project ONE, connecting it to the electricity grid. This development is crucial for the operation of the ethane cracker and reinforces the Antwerp chemical cluster's future viability.

INEOS has established a permanent electrical connection for Project ONE, an ethane cracker under construction in the Port of Antwerp. The main substation, which powers the cracker and its utilities, has been connected to the grid, with electricity sourced from North Sea wind farms through power purchase agreements.
The commissioning of this substation allows for the next phase, where approximately 700 subsystems will undergo testing for safety and reliability. The installation's electricity connection operates at 380 kilovolts, the highest in Belgium, ensuring efficient power transmission. A robust design includes redundancy measures to prevent outages, critical for maintaining operations in this significant industrial investment for the European chemical sector.
