Ineos Automotive Expands Footprint with Grenadier SUV and Quartermaster Pickup in Competitive Auto Market
Ineos Automotive, a subsidiary of the Ineos petrochemical group, is expanding its presence in the automotive industry with the Grenadier SUV and the Quartermaster pickup. Founded by billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the company aims to meet demand for rugged, capable vehicles. The Grenadier, built from proven components, launched in late 2023, and initial sales have shown promise. Ineos is also developing a hydrogen fuel cell variant and considering battery-electric options, focusing on off-road capability while navigating a competitive market landscape.

Ineos Automotive, part of the Ineos petrochemical empire, is expanding in the automotive sector with its Grenadier SUV and the new Quartermaster pickup. The Grenadier, launched in late 2023 at a former Mercedes-Benz factory in Hambach, France, is designed for off-road capability and built using reliable components from partners like BMW and ZF.
Ineos has ambitious plans for electrification, developing a hydrogen fuel cell variant with Hyundai while considering battery-electric options. The company aims to establish a sustainable business model producing tens of thousands of vehicles annually, targeting markets in the US, UK, Europe, Australia, and parts of Africa and the Middle East.
