Ineratec and Rolls-Royce Forge Partnership to Power Data Centers with E-Fuels
In a strategic collaboration, Ineratec, a Karlsruhe-based producer of synthetic E-Fuels, has teamed up with Rolls-Royce Power Systems to integrate E-Diesel, derived from green hydrogen and carbon dioxide, into emergency power systems for data centers. This initiative aims to replace conventional fossil diesel with sustainable alternatives in critical infrastructure, initially focusing on the German market.
Tobias Ostermaier, President of Stationary Power Solutions at Rolls-Royce Power Systems, emphasized that their MTU emergency power generators are already certified for operation with sustainable fuels. This capability enables clients, particularly in the data center sector aiming to reduce their carbon footprint, to adopt E-Fuels in their operations.
Ineratec specializes in producing CO2-neutral substitutes for fossil fuels, catering to industries such as aviation, shipping, and chemicals. The company employs modular and scalable systems to convert renewable hydrogen and biogenic CO2 into synthetic fuels, including kerosene, gasoline, diesel, waxes, methanol, and natural gas. Ineratec's products meet internationally recognized environmental standards, such as the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), positioning them as viable alternatives to traditional fuels.
Maximilian Backhaus, Chief Commercial Officer at Ineratec, highlighted the importance of reliable energy solutions for AI data centers, noting that their E-Fuels present a climate-neutral option. The partnership will initially benefit from short supply chains due to Ineratec's production facility, "Era One," located in Frankfurt, facilitating swift implementation. Ultimately, both companies envision a broader international rollout of their collaboration.
Rolls-Royce Power Systems, headquartered in Friedrichshafen, offers advanced energy and drive technology under the MTU brand, with a diverse portfolio that includes diesel and gas engines, battery solutions, and integrated energy systems. The company operates in 48 countries and serves customers in over 100 countries, employing more than 10,000 individuals.
In conclusion, this partnership between Ineratec and Rolls-Royce represents a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions in the data center sector, addressing both environmental concerns and energy reliability.
