Infineon and Navitas Semiconductor Expand GaN Production for Energy and AI Applications
Infineon is positioning Gallium Nitride (GaN) as a crucial element in energy and AI strategies, with the global GaN-Power semiconductor market expected to approach $3 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of around 44% from 2025. Navitas Semiconductor has announced a partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation to establish 200-mm GaN production based on a 180-nm CMOS process.
Meanwhile, TSMC plans to discontinue its GaN manufacturing by 2027 to focus on advanced packaging technologies. GaN is increasingly applied in AI data centers, automotive architectures, and other sectors, indicating a significant shift in manufacturing dynamics and market penetration.
