Initial Construction Phase Completed for OranjeWind Offshore Wind Farm
Jan De Nul has commenced construction at the OranjeWind site, ensuring foundational stability for future wind turbines. This project is crucial for integrating offshore wind energy into the Dutch electrical grid.

Jan De Nul's vessel Simon Stevin has successfully installed the first two loads of scour protection at the OranjeWind offshore wind farm, located 53 kilometers off the Dutch coast. This initial layer is critical for providing a stable base for 53 future turbine foundations and a subsea battery.
The stones used for the scour protection are sourced from Norway. The project, developed by RWE and TotalEnergies, aims to be operational by early 2028, generating electricity for approximately one million households. The OranjeWind initiative will also help address the challenges of integrating fluctuating wind energy into the Dutch energy system, potentially serving as a model for future projects.
