Innovative Simulation Tool for PHA Hydrolysis Kinetics Developed
A simulation tool for melt hydrolysis of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) has been developed under the Circular Economy project. This advancement supports chemical recycling methodologies critical for biopolymer sustainability.

The Competence Centre CHASE GmbH has developed a simulation tool to study melt hydrolysis kinetics of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) as part of the Circular Economy project funded by Upper Austria's government and the European Regional Development Fund. The research focuses on the hydrolysis of ester bonds in the liquid phase and the associated gas phase changes within an autoclave.
This requires advanced gas sampling techniques and analytical equipment. The project aims to enhance chemical recycling processes for biopolymers, promoting sustainability in material use.
