Intel Confirms Commitment to Consumer Market Amid Supply Shortages; Nova Lake CPUs Set for Late 2026 Release
Intel has reaffirmed its commitment to the consumer market despite ongoing wafer supply shortages, particularly as it reallocates wafer production to data center and AI segments. CFO David Zinsner indicated that while the company is increasing focus on the Data Center and AI (DCAI) business, it cannot fully abandon the Client Compute Group (CCG).
Intel's Q4 2025 revenue was $13.7 billion, a 4% decline year-over-year, with CCG revenue down 7% to $8.2 billion. DCAI revenue grew 9% year-over-year to $4.7 billion. Nova Lake desktop CPUs are slated for release in late 2026, utilizing Intel's 18A process, with the successor 14A expected in full production by 2028.
Intel anticipates a peak CPU shortage in Q1 2026 due to unexpected demand from AI data centers, which may impact PC chip sales. The company plans to prioritize high-end processors while managing supply constraints.
