Intel Introduces 8000 MT/s DDR5 RDIMM for Xeon 6, 8800 MT/s MRDIMM Expected in 2027
Intel's Xeon 6 platform now supports 8000 MT/s DDR5 RDIMM, with production availability aimed for August-September 2026. The upcoming 2nd Gen MRDIMM will provide up to 8800 MT/s speeds by Q1 2027, enhancing high-end AI workload performance.

Intel's Xeon 6 CPUs will support 8000 MT/s DDR5 RDIMMs across select SKUs, promising a 25% increase in memory speed over 6400 MT/s modules. Production availability is set for August-September 2026, with a BIOS update also enabling this functionality.
The transition to 8000 MT/s promises performance improvements of 3-6% across various workloads, particularly in memory-bandwidth-sensitive applications. Additionally, the 2nd Gen MRDIMM will provide up to 8800 MT/s on the Xeon 6900P platform by Q1 2027, targeting high-core-count applications.
Future advancements may push MRDIMM speeds to 12,800 MT/s and 17,600 MT/s by 2030, ensuring DDR5 remains relevant despite DDR6's impending release. This shift underscores the crucial role of memory speed in optimizing AI infrastructure.
