International Team Develops AI Model for Green Hydrogen from Wastewater
An international team, including researchers from the University of Malaga (UMA), has developed an AI model to extract green hydrogen from wastewater. This project is backed by Acosol, Fundación Unicaja, and the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
Green hydrogen serves as an energy carrier, aiding in decarbonisation efforts in Spain and the EU. Current hydrogen production mainly relies on water electrolysis. The study emphasizes the potential for hydrogen production in wastewater, which can also help remove pollutants during treatment phases.
The AI model aims to optimize chemical processes like dark fermentation, responding to varying wastewater qualities. This collaborative work involves researchers from Vietnam, South Korea, India, and Taiwan, with funding from Acosol, Fundación Unicaja, and the ministry's research agency.
