SPACE ECONOMY

InterstellOr, the sole private company authorized for a commercial crewed spaceflight project in China, unveiled the Suborbital Spacecraft Crosser 1 (CYZ1) in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The CYZ1, designed for full reusability, has already booked over three spacecraft with more than 20 space tourists and aims to conduct its first crewed flight in 2028.

The spacecraft targets a 99% reusability rate by mass, employing innovative design and reusable systems. Space tourists must undergo systematic training for suborbital flights to ensure a positive experience.

Notably, actor Johnny Huang Jingyu will be the first celebrity space tourist aboard CYZ1. Tickets are preselling for 3 million yuan ($430,194), with a 10% deposit required. The maiden flight is pending technical testing and regulatory approval, and is expected to stimulate growth in various related industries within China's space economy.
