Iowa Communications Network Completes Migration to 100G Path to Denver
Iowa Communications Network (ICN) has migrated to a new 100G route to Denver, enhancing network stability and service reliability. The previous connection relied on four 10G circuits, which were unstable. ICN partnered with Uniti and Great Plains Communications, establishing a new data center presence in Omaha. The upgrade includes new network switches, and the 100G path became operational in August 2025, with full migration of data traffic completed by October 2025, resulting in monthly savings over $1,000.

Iowa Communications Network (ICN) has migrated to a new 100G route to Denver, enhancing network stability and reliability. The previous connection, based on four 10G circuits, led to instability and outages.
After soliciting bids, ICN opted for a single 100G connection, which is cost-effective and higher in capacity. ICN partnered with Uniti and Great Plains Communications, establishing a presence at the 1623 Farnam Data Center in Omaha.
Upgrades included new network switches in Denver and Omaha. The 100G path became operational in August 2025, with full data traffic migration completed by October 2025, leading to over $1,000 in monthly savings.
