Iran's ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, emphasized the significance of the Armenia-Iran border during a recent visit to the border crossing. Meetings with border, security, and customs officials addressed situational challenges but confirmed that no serious issues exist.
Cargo truck flow has decreased due to Nowruz celebrations in Iran. Shirgholami also inspected the Agarak-Kajaran road construction, noting the involvement of an Iranian company, and discussed the resumption of work on the Noravan substation's power transmission line. The ongoing war has impacted the flow of Iranian tourists to Armenia, suggesting a potential economic risk for bilateral tourism.
