Iraq Customs Revenue Reaches 2.5 Trillion IQD in First Seven Months of 2026
Iraq's General Customs Authority achieved 2.5 trillion IQD ($1.9 billion) in revenue in the first seven months of 2026, equal to total 2025 receipts. Projections indicate a potential annual revenue exceeding 3.5 trillion IQD ($2.67 billion), the highest in Iraqi history, driven by modernization efforts in customs processing.

In the first seven months of 2026, Iraq's General Customs Authority reported revenues of 2.5 trillion IQD ($1.9 billion), matching total receipts recorded for all of 2025. Revenue collection accelerated with July alone generating 560 billion IQD, a 150% year-on-year increase.
Full-year projections suggest customs revenue may surpass 3.5 trillion IQD ($2.67 billion) by the end of 2026. Key factors for this increase include the deployment of SCADA systems and automated customs processing, which have significantly reduced tariff evasion. These advancements signal Iraq's efforts to modernize border controls and diminish reliance on oil revenues amidst market fluctuations.
