Ireland to Invest €300bn in Infrastructure by 2050 Amid Global Trends
Ireland's projected infrastructure spending of €300 billion by 2050 is primarily driven by digital, power, and social sectors. This investment reflects a significant response to the country's infrastructure deficit and aligns with global trends in data center and power infrastructure spending.

Ireland is set to allocate €300 billion for infrastructure by 2050, with digital investments leading at €71.8 billion. Other key allocations include €55.6 billion for power, €51.3 billion for social needs, €38.5 billion for transport, and €34.2 billion for water, collectively constituting over 85% of the total projected spend.
Globally, infrastructure investment is forecasted to surge from €3.8 trillion in 2024 to €5.9 trillion by 2050, driven mainly by data center construction and power infrastructure. As the global landscape shifts, the defence sector will also see significant growth, with annual spending projected to reach €143.7 billion by 2050. The trend indicates an urgent need for collaboration between public and private investors to meet these ambitious infrastructure goals.
