Ireland's ELV Processing Exceeds Targets for 2024
In 2024, Ireland achieved a 92% reuse and recycling rate for End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs), exceeding EU targets. ELVES has achieved this for seven years, significantly contributing to national compliance and promoting sustainable vehicle disposal practices.

Ireland has reported a 92% reuse and recycling rate for End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) in 2024, marking the seventh consecutive year that ELVES has exceeded national targets. The overall combined reuse and recovery rate reached 99%.
Since 2018, Ireland has consistently met EU compliance standards, with recent figures indicating improvements from 2022's 88.5% and 95.5% to 89.48% and 97.17% in 2023. ELVES funded additional recycling initiatives and raised public awareness on proper vehicle scrapping.
In 2024, over 78% of Certificates of Destruction (CoDs) were processed by ELVES' Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs). Continued focus on these practices is essential for advancing Ireland's circular economy.
