Ireland's Future Energy System Observatory (FIESO) to Provide Real-Time Insights for Low-Carbon Transition
The Future Irish Energy System Observatory (FIESO) is being developed to offer real-time insights into Ireland's energy system. Funded by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and led by Tyndall, FIESO aims to enhance strategic energy planning through a national data platform and laboratory facilities for green hydrogen exploration. The initiative will support the modeling of future energy scenarios, addressing challenges and opportunities in the transition to a decarbonized energy landscape.

The Future Irish Energy System Observatory (FIESO) is being established to provide a real-time view of Ireland's energy system, facilitating the transition to a low-carbon future. Funded by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), Tyndall leads the project, creating a national data and visualization platform alongside laboratory facilities for green hydrogen research.
FIESO will aid in developing energy profiles for 2030 and beyond, using advanced modeling tools to analyze decarbonized energy scenarios across various sectors. The observatory will incorporate existing national dashboards and experimental technologies, including floating offshore wind and advanced energy storage solutions, ensuring a comprehensive view of Ireland's evolving energy landscape.
