Isar Aerospace's Spectrum Launch Vehicle Successfully Completes First Test Flight from Andøya Spaceport, Norway
Isar Aerospace's Spectrum launch vehicle completed its first test flight on March 30, 2025, from Andøya Spaceport, Norway, but was terminated 30 seconds after liftoff due to an unintended vent valve opening and loss of attitude control. The flight safety system functioned as intended, ensuring public safety, while data gathered will guide improvements for future missions. Isar is currently producing additional Spectrum vehicles and aims to strengthen its position in the satellite launch market, marking a significant milestone as the first orbital launch from continental Europe.

Isar Aerospace successfully conducted the first test flight of its Spectrum launch vehicle on 30 March 2025 from Andøya Spaceport, Norway. The vehicle lifted off at 12:30 PM CEST but was terminated approximately 30 seconds into the flight due to an unintended opening of the vent valve and loss of attitude control.
The investigation confirmed that the flight safety system operated nominally and posed no public safety risk. Data from this flight will inform future missions, as Isar Aerospace has already implemented corrective actions to enhance system resilience.
The company is currently producing Spectrum launch vehicles #2 and #3 and aims to solidify its position in the satellite launch market. This launch marks a significant milestone as it is the first orbital launch from continental Europe.
